Aeris Korper Dance Theatre announced today that its first, hybrid live and online performance with Edition #10 of PROSPECTS will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2021. The event will also be ASL-interpreted.
“The excitement is palpable as we return to connect in-person with our community and fellow artists. We’ve learned and expanded so much during the pandemic, and we’re so excited to take it forward as we slowly and optimistically exit the pandemic,” said Sid Ryan Eilers, Artistic Director, Aeris Körper. “With high regard for health and safety protocols, we cannot wait to experience the live and interactive forum that PROSPECTS enables for dance artists, performers, choreographers, and art patrons.”
Produced by Aeris Korper Contemporary Dance, PROSPECTS rips open the studio, transforming the craft of making dance into an interactive experience. It is the only performance of its kind, giving audiences the unique opportunity to engage in informal dialogue with the choreographers and performers, deepening their understanding of dance and choreography.
“Over the past 18 months, we’ve only scratched the surface of how technology can help us deliver dance online to broader audiences,” said Mikaela Demers, Producer, Aeris Körper. “With increased funding from prominent granting bodies, we’re able to include more comprehensive support and resources to our artists and collaborators, such as including dramaturgical consulting and funding for travel and child support.”
Edition #10 of PROSPECTS presents 4 choreographers’ original, new, and unfinished work. Engaging directly with the audience, each choreographer asks questions about their work, receives pertinent feedback to take back into their creative process, and allows patrons to ask questions, share reflections and further examine the ideas and themes presented.
Featured choreographers at this edition of PROSPECTS includes Aisha Nicholson; a Toronto-based dance artist with Kashe Dance, whose performance in New Monuments premieres on CBC Gem on October 15; Little Current-based Candice Irwin; cross-disciplinary dance/digital artist Jasmine Liaw; and Mississauga-based Kala Collective.
