Release: Call for Artists: #IAmStillAnArtist

Industry is thrilled to announce #IAmStillAnArtist, a campaign to celebrate the resilience of Hamilton’s creative community with a series of video installations to be displayed in public locations across the city.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating for all of us, and artists have been no exception. With galleries, studios, and stages shut down for most of the past two years, we’ve lost opportunities, income, connections to our community, and sometimes even our sense of self. But despite these challenges, Hamilton artists have kept going. We’re still writing, drawing, painting, dancing, singing, performing, creating, making. We are still here. We are still artists.

In collaboration with the Art Gallery of HamiltonFactory Media Centre, and a team of video artists, Industry is creating a series of public-facing video installations featuring Hamilton artists to highlight the perseverance of our city’s artists.

Submissions are welcome from artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to be featured in the #IAmStillAnArtist campaign.

Selected artists will receive a $1,000 fee for their participation. Deadline to submit is September 22, 2021. Any artist requiring accommodations during the process should contact Rose Hopkins at [email protected].
