Collapsing the Night Brings Gage Park Greenhouse to Life

Aeris Körper is proud to present Collapsing The Night, in collaboration with additional members from Hamilton’s arts community, and made possible by the generous support of the City of Hamilton’s Enrichment Fund.

Live music, interactive projection and dance choreography will guide attendees on an incredibly unique experience through the Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse. Similar to visiting an art gallery, the audience will walk through the greenhouse experiencing the performance. The piece investigates themes of how we find, and ultimately how we can release, our internal dark spaces of loneliness and fear.

Performances will take place on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23. Audience members can purchase two types of tickets: Observer or Participator. All audience members will follow a guide throughout the performance, the Observers will not be expected to interact with the dancers and the Participators will be encouraged to move and interact with the performance.

“Our driving force at Aeris Körper is to use the untapped potential in movement and dance to foster profound self-awareness and deeper human connections. We hope Collapsing the Night touches every part of your physicality through movement, light, touch and even the smell from the greenhouse,” says Lisa Emmons, Artistic Director, Aeris Körper. “It seems like the world is so dark now. From my own experience I know that shifting from the negative to the positive, knowing that loneliness is not reality, is so much more powerful.”

“As Chair of the City of Hamilton’s Enrichment Fund, we are so proud to support the arts in our city,” said Councillor Brenda Johnson, Chair Grants Sub Committee. “This event promises to be exciting and I encourage residents to attend!”
