Hamilton Arts Week 2020 is presented by The Hamilton Arts Council with support from the City of Hamilton, Ontario Arts Council, Downtown Hamilton BIA and DPAI Architecture. This city-wide celebration promises to showcase the resilience and resonance of Hamilton’s creative community with an array of digital presentations from June 11-20th, 2020.

Hamilton Arts Council (HAC) have directly funded 13 Signature Events that highlight various genres of the arts and the diversity of Hamilton’s artists and performers. The programming for this year’s Arts Week includes dance, literary, visual, and theatre arts with opportunities for audiences to observe, interact, collaborate, and discover new skills from the safety of their own home. Platforms include videos, podcasts, livestreams and digital publications accessed through the HAC’s website and social media channels.

“The devastation of revenue sources faced by Hamilton’s creative community, as a direct result of COVID-19, has inspired new levels of creativity and determination from artists to meet the challenges ahead” says HAC Manager Joanna Johnson “For the wider community the arts have always provided immeasurable benefits, and now more than ever HAC strives to create access to this vital resource”.

The City of Hamilton Arts Awards are a highlight of Hamilton Arts Week with the presentation of juried awards to acknowledge and celebrate the excellence that takes place in our city. To ensure the well-being of all program participants and public safety, the Arts Awards will be presented throughout Hamilton Arts Week in a series of online videos, which include recognition of category nominees, announcements and interviews with award recipients and exciting performances from within the community.

Hamilton Arts Week 2020 will be one for the digital ages, a testament to all the ongoing efforts of artists, organizations and funding programs offering support to artists across the city of Hamilton. The HAC is seeking to list all regional arts events, classes, performances, and presentations that will take place between June 11-20, 2020. Artists and groups can submit their events at www.hamiltonartscouncil.ca/artsweek
