Release: Hamilton Music Collective Expands To Include Recordings

A recent grant announcement was music to the ears of the Hamilton Music Collective.

The Collective, best known for their Instrument for Every Child initiative, has been named the recipient of a Resilient Community Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The grant, worth almost two hundred thousand dollars, will be used to expand the Collective’s music production and recording program. Funds from the grant will provide recording studio and classrooms that allow the Collective to offer instruction in digital recording to youth.

Through the funding, Hamilton Music Collective will also hire three additional staff to develop and manage the new facility and programs offered as part of the new curriculum including a Studio Manager, an Acoustic Consultant and additional teaching staff.

A key hire will be the Studio Manager who will oversee the final development and design of the studio, liaising with technical consultants and the development and execution of a sustainable strategic plan for the professional recording program.

The grant also funds the establishment of a volunteer program for the studio, which aims to capitalize on the HMC’s partnerships with Mohawk College and local high schools.
