The Westdale, continues the “Music In Film” series on October 19 at 7:00 pm with a special screening of the documentary 20 Feet From Stardom and musical guest Suzie McNeil.

The “Music in Film” series is a film experience for true music lovers who are craving a big audiovisual connection with the greatest musical moments ever captured on film. Host Alysha Main will take the audience on a journey through the liner notes and deep cuts from the most beloved music documentaries and concert films of all time.

20 Feet From Stardom, winner of the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2014, is a documentary detailing the lives of background singers for famous artists. Guest star Suzie McNeil will kick off the evening with an interview and performance.

Suzie McNeil is a powerful vocalist and talented performer who became a household name in 2005 when she was the last woman standing on the CBS reality show, Rockstar: INXS. She landed a starring role in the Toronto debut of Queen’s We will Rock YOU Musical and has worked alongside top artists, including Alan Frew, Jeff Healey, Dave Navarro, Scott Weiland, Gavin Rossdale, Clay Aitkin, and Foreigner. In addition, she had the exciting opportunity to sing back up for P!NK on her North American Tour. Recently, Suzie made history by joining Aerosmith on their Las Vegas residency, singing backup vocals with Steven Tyler.

“Having Suzie talk about her first-hand experience singing back up for huge stars will really bring the film to life”, says host Alysha Main, a Westdale staff member who has a background in licensing music for Film & TV.

The ‘Music In Film” Series continues with Monterey Pop, about the 1967 Monterey Pop Music Festival, and Shine a Light, a concert film directed by Martin Scorsese featuring The Rolling Stones as they perform in New York. They will be screened on November 23 at 7:00 pm and December 7 at 7:00 pm, respectively.  The series is sponsored by the local Westdale Village shop Take Note Stationery.
